Build An Email List For Your Bakery Even Without A Storefront

If you have been following me for a hot minute, then you know I preach about the how important it is to build an email list for your bakery business. I created a blog about it [here]. I recorded a YouTube about it [here], and oh yes, I even have a podcast about it [here].

I have told you all about my favorite email marketer Kate Doster and her amazing podcast Inbox Besties. [LINK] She shares free advice, tips, and tricks of the trade every week. #bestiegoals

If you are looking to understand how to start, grow, and nurture your email list for your bakery, then you will definitely want to consume as much content as you can from Kate.

I have shared with you my favorite email templates. Of course it should come as no surprise that the email templates are from my favorite email guru Kate Doster. I loved the Email Marketing Fairy [LINK]

Seriously, best money spent on my email marketing. I use these templates everywhere in my emails and webpages. They are great because they helped me learn how to build a welcome series to nurture my list along with how to use email to create a sales funnel.

Then we’ve talked about why you need to build an email list for your bakery especially if you do not have a storefront. If you missed it then here is the recap:

  • Build warm leads
  • Unlike social media, no algorithm
  • Asset to your bakery business

Ok, today we are going to address how to build an email list for your bakery.

Now, I know what you are thinking…

How am I to use this crap in my baking business?

Oh, I am so glad you asked.

1.) For starters you should always be collecting your customers email and asking for consent to add them to your email. This is an easy process with Square. If you don’t have a point-of-sale system in your business, then you need to check out this post on why a POS system is important for your bakery especially if you do not have a storefront [here].

If you want to just go check out Square, or maybe you are ready to just sign up for Square click =========> HERE

2.) You should offer a pop up on your website or a link in your social media for people to sign up for your newsletter.
If you are not sending at least monthly updates to your email list, you really should be. Use a newsletter as a way to keep customers aware of events, products, and inside scoop on your business. Remember we want to build a connection with our customers.

3.) Offer opt-in freebies to attract customers to your email list to move them from cold to warm-hot leads.
Most common way to grow your bakery email list is to offer coupons, but we do not want to give away money. I mean I love to offer deals, but I don’t want it to be the only reason people sign up to hear what I have to say.

We got together with several other bakery business owners and sat down to brain storm several ideas that you an have for free to use in your bakery business. We call it the Email Marketing Brain Power 1/2 Hour. If you want to sign up to get access to the free video click [here].

Instead, I actually have some ideas for you that I will share today that don’t include only freebies.

  • Local restaurant list
  • Local places to take kids
  • Local places to have a birthday party
  • Local places to read a good book
  • Local places to have a wedding
  • Local places to have a kids birthday
  • Local places to have an adult birthday
  • Local places to have a baby shower
  • Local places to have engagement party
  • Local places to have a wedding rehearsal
  • Top favorite restaurants in local place
  • Top favorite activities for kids in your favorite local place
  • Top places for foodies in your local area
  • Checklist for kids birthday party in your local area
  • Checklist for adult parties in your local area
  • Checklist for weddings in your local area
  • Checklist for baby showers in your local area
  • Checklist for wedding rehearsals in your local area
  • Checklist for BBQs in your local area

Specialty bakery ideas:

  • Top gluten friendly places in your local area
  • Best vegan items in your local area
  • Best keto items in your local area

The goal is to really niche down these freebies to get people on your list who will utilize your bakery. This means it is important to focus on your area.

If you are in a large area, then you need to narrow it down further if possible. Ok, so your homework this week is to really start thinking about the types of freebies you can offer to get people on your email list.

We talk all about that in my FREE prerecorded Zoom meeting that I had with other bakery business owners. We had a brain power 1/2 hour sit down where we spoke in-depth about different ideas to grow your email marketing as a bakery owners.
